Many of you may have heard that our PE teacher, Mr. Will Hogan, was on the field at halftime  during the Bears game on Sunday, December 4, with some lucky Ridge students.  They carried a flag for the "Fuel Up- Play 60" program, representing many schools, teachers, and students throughout Illinois.  Mr. Hogan thanks all of you who supported him with your votes.  Congratulations, Mr. Hogan!  You made us proud!

Our Mission

The Mission of Ridge Family Center for Learning is to learn together and nurture the development of the whole child through partnerships among students, staff, families and community.

Vision Statement

The Vision of Ridge Family Center for Learning is to have an open door environment that provides extra time and support to maximize the
potential of all children and motivate their love of learning.

Bus Safety Concerns

school_bus.png

Many Grand Prairie drivers voiced a safety concern with the parents
and students while in the bus loading and unloading area.   Parents
are backing out of parking spaces and driving by the bus while
students are being loaded or unloaded.  Parents and students are also
walking in between the buses instead of using the sidewalk to get to
their parked car on the street.

People by nature want to park as close as they can to things,
especially during inclement weather, so we have to work year-round in
enforcing policies and educating people.

RidgeReferrals.jpg

As you can see by our SWIS data (School Wide Information System), disrespectful behavior has produced 34% of referrals since the beginning of the school year.  In order to support students in exhibiting respectful behavior our PBIS Team (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) has developed Respectful Behavior Norms. The following are the norms that are being taught and rewarded.

1.    Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.

2.    Use appropriate words, tone and volume.

3.    Work without bothering others.

4.    Listen with your whole body.

5.    Talk at the appropriate time to your peers and the teacher.

6.    Use materials and space correctly.

We need your help in expecting respectful behavior at school by continuing to encourage respectful behavior at home.  Attached is a great website that explains aspects of respectful behavior as well as strategies you can use at home to foster desired behavior.

Thank you for all that you do.  Enjoy your children during the winter beak!
